Astral Chain Marie Emote Thumbs Up

Lappy is the mascot character of the national police force, and is in charge of public relations.[1]

Appearance[]

Lappy is depicted as a yellow cartoon dog resembling a Labrador with his tongue perpetually hanging out, wearing comically large white gloves and a blue police hat marked with the letter "P". Lappy also sports a red collar, and black sash. Under his hat, he has two tufts of hair sticking out.

Gameplay[]

Protagonist Dogcostume

The Protagonist as Lappy.

Lappy is occasionally seen in the 2nd basement of the Neuron headquarters, where the command room is located, listening to the problems of troubled officers. He is also used as a navigation character for training menus.[1]

From File 03 onwards, Lappy's costume can usually be seen inside the locker room.

Lappy is also an unlockable costume for the Protagonist.

Background[]

Lappy is the Ark Police Force mascot and is generally portrayed by Marie Wentz in public appearances. While Marie tries to keep her identity as Lappy a secret from other Neuron officers, said Neuron officers are already well aware of Lappy's secret but are too polite to point out that they know. Occasionally, Lappy can be portrayed by the player character by either wearing the Lappy costume, accepting the mission "Lappy's Lament". It is possible that other characters have portrayed Lappy as well.

Personality[]

Lappy is the enthusiastic and encouraging mascot of the Ark Police. His goal in Neuron is to spread happiness and positivity to all members. He also likes to hand out balloons.

Trivia[]

  • In the Nintendo Japan and UK uploads of the announcement trailer for ASTRAL CHAIN, footage at the end showed the player character wearing the Lappy costume, throwing a piece of trash in the bin.
    • Additionally, in the Nintendo Japan and UK uploads of the E3 2019 trailer, footage at the end showed Marie Wentz tripping over while wearing the Lappy costume.
  • In the Blue Quest "Lappy's Lament", the player character must wear Lappy's costume in Marie's stead. Despite the player character possessing a different voice from Marie, the Neuron Police Force will somehow believe that Marie is in the costume.
  • Lappy's name is likely a shortened version of Laelaps from Greek mythology: a hound which never failed to catch its prey.
